Suspension is a mechanism that connects the wheel and the body, plays a role in supporting and damping the body, transmitting and buffering the impact force transmitted by the uneven road surface to the frame or the body, attenuating the resulting vibration, and ensuring that the car can run smoothly。

The basic structure of suspension system: mainly includes elastic components, guiding mechanism and shock absorber。

Elastic components: leaf spring, air spring, spiral spring and torsion bar spring and other forms, modern cars mostly use spiral spring and torsion bar spring, a few advanced models use air spring;

Non-independent suspension, especially torsion beam suspension, relative to the independent suspension is less comfortable, but the structure is simple and reliable, it does not take up space, and the maintenance cost is lower than the independent suspension, so the torsion beam suspension is used in the rear axle of small cars and compact cars。

Main advantages: simple and practical structure, minimal space, low manufacturing cost 。

Main disadvantages: poor bearing performance, weak anti-roll ability, poor shock absorption performance, limited comfort
